PSI...sealing, connecting the protecting the world's pipelines.
Pipeline Seal and Insulator is a worldwide manufacturer and marketer of a wide variety of high quality products used to
guarantee the safe flow of fluids through pipeline transmission and distribution systems. Wherever you find pipelines that carry the
fluids to electrify factories, energize cities, fuel transportation systems and quench the thirst of nations you'll find the products of PSI.
Casing Spacers/Isolators
Our casing spacers/isolators are used on long distance transmission pipelines for two purposes. When a pipeline intersects with
a railroad right-of-way, highway, waterway or any other thoroughfare the pipeline usually passes under or is buried beneath the
obstruction. For protection, in these areas, the carrier pipe is placed inside a casing pipe in an effort to “double contain”
the fluid that is passing through the carrier pipe. If a leak or break were to occur, the fluid would be directed to a safe
distance away from beneath the thoroughfare. In fact, many local Governmental Agencies require this procedure almost anywhere
when volatile or hazardous fluids are flowing through the carrier pipe.
Secondly, the casing spacer/isolator is used to electrically isolate the carrier pipe from the casing pipe. In most cases
a corrosion mitigation program is in place to protect the carrier pipe and the isolator guarantees no additional metal
objects come in contact with the carrier pipe thus ensuring the integrity of the corrosion mitigation program.
Sealing/Isolating Gaskets
PSI sealing and isolating gaskets are used in more intricate piping systems, such as a refinery or chemical plant,
where many flanged connections are prevalent to direct fluids through a maze of processing devices. The respected and
proven Gasket-Seal and Line-Backer sealing gaskets are industry standards with their unique sealing elements that
allow customers to use minimal amounts of flange bolt torque to create a seal even on high pressure lines. Many of these
gaskets, installed decades ago, are still providing the sealing protection guaranteed by PSI when they were bolted into the system.
A new addition to the PSI line of sealing gaskets is the Line-Seal, a critical service gasket that is designed to withstand severe corrosive
environments, including high concentrations of CO2, H2S, produced water and aggressive inhibitors even at elevated or fluctuating temperatures.
Designed with a steel retainer fused to a dielectric material the Line-Seal, with its unique pressure-activated seal may also be used
to electrically isolate flanges for cathodic protection.
All PSI sealing and non-sealing gaskets with dielectric retainers are available in Flange Isolation Kit form. The kits include
all necessary sleeves and washers of the appropriate size and number to effectively seal and electrically isolate one flange
half from another.
ElectroStop Monolithic Isolating Fittings
Another long distance transmission pipeline product PSI is well known for is the ElectroStop fitting. In 1974 PSI was called upon to
solve a large isolating problem. The project was the Alaska pipeline, a 48-inch diameter tunnel of steel designed to carry crude oil
across some of the most tortuous and inhospitable terrain in the world. Only the most reliable insulating fittings could be used
due to the remote location and unpredictable weather patterns. So PSI ElectroStop fittings were specified and welded into what is
still considered one of the largest and most complex projects undertaken by mankind.
Of further note, many of the original ElectroStop fittings are still providing electrical isolation to pump stations along a
pipeline that is now over 35 years old.
LinkSeal Modular Seals
Whenever pipes pass through concrete walls, floors or ceilings, Link—Seal® Modular Seals may be used to fill and seal the void
area between the pipe and barrier through which it passes. This permanent seal, created by the Link-Seal®, may be hydrostatically
tested and will normally hold up to 20 psig (40 feet of static head) in field applications.
As far as applications are concerned, any cylindrical object may be quickly, easily and permanently sealed, as they pass through
barriers, by the patented Link-Seal modular seal design. Electrical or telecommunications cable may be sealed within conduit as they
enter vaults or manholes. And the annular space between carrier pipes passing through casings may be sealed against the entry of
water, soil or backfill material.
With a wide variety of hardware/elastomer combinations, Link-Seal® modular seals are easily configured to achieve the best possible
match for service conditions encountered. High temperature seals, fire seals (Factory Mutual Approved) and oil resistant seals
may be ordered to meet special or unique service applications.
While competitors attempt to duplicate the superior sealing characteristics of Link-Seal®, none have yet to succeed. Link-Seal® Modular
Seals are the only sealing system with 16 different sizes to guarantee a correct fit in varied applications. In addition, Link-Seal
Modular Seals are available with standard fasteners, which have a two-part zinc dichromate and proprietary corrosion inhibiting
coating or – for maximum corrosion resistance - 316 stainless steel.
Considered to be the premier method for permanently sealing pipes of any size passing through barriers of all types, Link-Seal®
is well known throughout the world for consistency of performance, reliability and longevity. For the system approach, metal or
non-conductive Century-Line® sleeves with water stops may be ordered with Link-Seal® modular seals to ensure correct positioning
and a water tight seal of the installation within poured concrete walls.
Century-Line® Pipe Penetration Sleeves
Century-Line® Pipe Penetration Sleeves are used to create circular sleeved holes in concrete poured barriers including;
walls, floors, ceilings, structural supports and tank footings. Molded from non-conductive, high impact resistant HDPE,
Century-Line® sleeves are lightweight and easily installed by one construction worker. They are available in 16 diameters
ranging from 2” to 25” and shipped, from stock, in any desired length.
Cell-Cast® Hole Forming Disks
Cell-Cast® Hole Forming Disks are designed to produce large diameter holes in poured concrete structures. Molded from HDPE
plastic, Cell-Cast® disks are lightweight and may be installed by one construction worker. They are available in a wide variety of diameters.
Disks are either 3” or 4” thick allowing an installer to form a hole in 3” walls or thicker (except 5”).
Riser-Wrap® Heat Shrink Sealing and Protection System
The Riser-Wrap® seal is a two-layer “heat shrink” system designed for protecting and/or sealing pipe joints or encapsulating
manholes against ground water infiltration. Concrete manholes are problematic areas for all utilities in that any water seepage
will not only damage components confined inside the manhole but also any metallic hardware associated with mounting and entry
or exit (ladders). In many cases, the costs associated with corrosion damage far exceed the price for applying an exterior –
water infusion elimination surface.
Unique to the PSI system is a thick-walled 0.098” (2.5mm) cross-linked high density material that includes a heat indicator -
allowing the installer to monitor the heat applied to the surface and reduce the possibility of overheating.
The Riser-Wrap® Heat Shrink Sealing and Protection System may be used for sealing manholes (square, rectangular or cylindrical),
pipelines, step-down joints and for any rehabilitation work.
